So many books, so many covers...Some of which stand out more than others. But which are the most "iconic" of all time?
I explored "top book cover" lists from Barnes & Noble, Book Riot, LitHub, and Shortlist to see which covers made the cut.
The most commonly praised cover? The Godfather is a 1969 American classic by Mario Puzo. The easily recognizable cover of this bestseller was included on nearly every list. It even got the number 1 spot on Book Riot's list.
What other covers did they celebrate?
A Clockwork Orange and The Great Gatsby also appeared on multiple lists.
What makes a cover "iconic"? Well, I'd say it has as much to do with what's inside as it does with the design itself. A great piece of literature is remembered fondly (cover included).
