Lesson: Power Discussion

Lesson: Power Discussion

$5.00Price

This lesson asks students to present their ideas about power in a Socratic seminar-style class discussion. This discussion was originally designed as a review for the World in 1750 Unit, but the discussion questions are broad enough to apply to any unit.

`

Lesson Aim:

I can participate effectively in a collaborative discussion about power in society.

Lesson Overview:

  1. Do Now: What does it mean to have power and how do historians determine who holds power in a society?
  2. Mini Lesson: Discussion Procedure and Norms
  3. Group Discussion: Power Discussion
  4. Class Reflection

This bundle includes the following items:

  • Lesson Plan
  • Discussion Question Cards
  • Accompanying Slides Presentation

What you need to do to prepare for this lesson:

  1. Print and photocopy the Classwork and Exit Ticket handouts to distribute to your students. The Exit Ticket document fits two Exit Tickets per page, so you only need half the amount of your students.

The slides presentation is an editable Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation. You can upload this into Google Slides with minimal formatting required.
